Dear Senator/Congressman...

Take action by demanding that your Senator and Congressman preserve and protect the US dollar bill. Please use the following sample messages (feel free to customize)- letter #1 initially, and later #2.

After you’ve heard back, feel free to copy/paste your elected officials’ response into the Contact page. This will allow us to build a registry of elected officials who Support or Oppose the preservation of our American paper-based monetary system.

Sample Letter 1: "Where do you stand on CBDCs?'

Dear Senator/Congressman,

I am a registered voter within your district with grave concerns about Executive Order 14067 “Ensuring Responsible Development of Digital Assets,” signed by President Biden on March 9, 2022 and declares:

“My Administration places the highest urgency on research and development efforts into the potential design and deployment options of a United States CBDC.”

This move to replace the America paper-money system with a digital token is MY #1 concern for the future of our democracy, for the following reasons:

1.  A digitized system of currency associating financial transactions with citizen “digital wallet” accounts poses a number of cyber-security issues for citizens of the United States.

2. A centralized digital currency maintained within a federal ledger opens the possibilities for government scrutiny of citizen spending habits and even intervention, restrictions, or suspension of lawful transactions, contrary to the spirit of Amendment IV of the U.S. Constitution which enshrines “The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against reasonable searches and seizures.”

3. There is no benefit to the people of the United States in replacing our traditional paper-based system of currency with a Central Bank Digital Currency. The cost in taxpayer funds to develop, deploy and maintain a U.S. Central Bank Digital Currency system and the potentially disastrous impacts on the existing fractional reserve banking system will far exceed any benefit that may result from increased transaction speeds.

4. This Executive Order has received little attention from the media and appears to have been signed without consent of Congress or any outreach to the public. Further, as other nations around the world have begun researching or (as in the case of China and the Bahamas) deploying Central Bank Digital Currencies, this move to replace paper-based U.S. currency with a CBDC appears to be part of a larger global push lead by supranational authorities including the World Economic Forum and Bank for International Settlements.

If you have not done so yet, I’d encourage you to view this short (3:17) interview of Fed Chairmain Jerome Powell aired by 60 minutes in April of 2021:

Fed Chair Jerome Powell on a U.S. digital dollar: “It’s possible.”

Please write back and specifically state if you intend to categorically SUPPORT or BLOCK  future legislation or Executive Orders to implement a Central Bank Digital Currency system in place of or in addition to the current US paper-based system.

Regards,

Sample Letter 2: "Support the bill "To define the US dollar US as a fixed weight of gold" and reject the bill "to develop and pilot digital dollar technologies!"

Dear Senator/Congressman,

I am a registered voter within your district who has already written to you about my concerns regarding Executive Order 14067 “Ensuring Responsible Development of Digital Assets,” the first step in eventually replacing the US paper-currency system with a Central Bank Digital Currency.  It is my belief that the replacement of paper money with a digital currency system is a grave threat to our American way of life, and further believe that the best way to shore up the American economy and prevent both irresponsible government spending and continued inflationary cycles is to reinstitute a gold standard.

I am now writing now to ask you if you, as my elected legislator, will OPPOSE or SUPPORT the following:

1.  H.R. 9157 “To define the U.S. dollar as a fixed weight of gold and other uses” (introduced by WVa. Representative Alex Mooney).

2. H.R. 7231 “to develop and pilot digital dollar technologies” (introduced by Ma. Representative Stephen Lynch).

Please write back and specifically state where you stand in regards to these two bills.

Regards,
